Happy New Productive Year! Or how to accomplish all your New Year's Resolutions in 2014
January 09, 2014 Time ManagementJanuary is that time of the year when everyone feels really, really motivated to make the new year the awesomest ever and to accomplish all those mighty personal goals they've been setting for years and years.
Usually, this kind of enthusiasm goes off until February, but we know you're a high achiever and we want to help you tick off the list all your resolutions at the end of the year. So, we've created a list of habits and advice that you could implement in your time management strategy for 2014.
-
First off, write down your New Year's Resolutions. Take your time and write all your goals, from the big ones to the little adventures you've always planned. All from buying a new house to going fishing or diving. At the end of the year you'll be happy to see a review of the big stuff you've accomplished and remember all the fun you've had this year.
-
Plan your holidays ahead. Not only are you going to get cheaper tickets, but they'll probably require lots of planning. That way you'll be able to stay focused on your work, too.
-
However, stay flexible. Just because adventures are fun. :)
-
Set your big goals and make a plan for reaching them. Buying a car, writing a paper, developing an app or starting a business? Well, make a plan. Break your project into stages, schedule them and make it happen.
-
Plan ahead your days, weeks, months. What are your most important tasks for this month? Do you want to build something in your spare time? Or maybe you just want to make time to go to the doctor's. Plan ahead time and set deadlines for each task, no matter how small. Otherwise it will never happen. Especially if you feel like you're always on a tight schedule.
-
Break out of bad habits. Set an exact amount of time you can waste with Facebook or other distractions. You know watching cat videos on Youtube won't take you anywhere.
-
Make time to take a step back. Relax. Spend time with your family. Go for a walk. Sleep. Let your mind wander. It will boost your creativity and it will help you get back to work with a clear and fresh mind.
-
Take care of yourself. Go see the doctor about that back pain. Eat healthy food. Go to the gym (yes, that's a hard one, but you can do it, buddy.).
That's it. Let us know if you have any other tips for super productivity this year.
